Our country should be ready to fight with chronic diseases due to its aging population and changing lifestyles. According to the data on death of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the share of cardiac diseases in overall causes of death tends to increase. Cardiac diseases ranked the first among all causes of death with 40 percent in 1989, 45 percent in 1993 and 40 percent in 2009. When assessed together with the mortality and morbidity caused by the medical condition, ischemic cardiac conditions and cerebrovascular conditions rank second and third, respectively, among the top 10 medical conditions causing Disability Adjusted Life Years (DALY) losses on a nation-wide basis in Turkey. Life years lost due to ischemic cardiac conditions constitute 8 percent of all losses whereas losses due to cerebrovascular conditions comprise 6 percent of all losses.
Well then, what are the factors that threaten our cardiovascular health and what should we do to protect our hearts? Hypertension, cholesterol, obesity, diabetes and smoking are among factors that threaten cardiac health. Harmful substances in cigarettes and high blood glucose levels damage the vein walls, leading to vascular occlusion and subsequently to medical conditions such as heart attack and stroke. High cholesterol and obesity result in atherosclerosis. Consequently, all of the above-mentioned are cardiovascular risk factors leading to death.
With the rise in cardiac conditions, we now understand the value of preventive healthcare measures better. Healthy nutrition, preferring fresh foods instead of ready-made meals, avoiding excessive use of salt, regular health checks and being careful of blood values are among cardiac health prevention measures. Moreover, it is also important to be optimistic to life, to spend quality time with family and friends and to keep the sleep patterns under control. In addition, avoiding a stationary lifestyle and doing regular physical activity are also prerequisites for cardiac health.
Those who have cardiac conditions running in their families should also be aware of the risk and take suitable measures. Regular cardiac health checks and supplements promoting cardiac health such as omega-3 and coenzyme Q10 are also important. Oils such as fish oil, linseed oil and chia seed oil may be preferred for omega-3 supplementation purposes. As we are now going through the Cardiac Health Week, let us think and care more about our hearts.
In terms of believing and succeeding, the “Growth Mindset” has three important pillars.
To elaborate the effects of colors;
Black: Being light-absorbent, the color black increases pessimism as a symbol of loneliness, sorrow, anxiety and distress. As it is considered to be the color of death by some societies, it also represents mourning. Black is considered to be the symbol of evil as well. On the other hand, black also signifies nobility, power, passion, dignity and desire. It creates a mystical atmosphere.
White: Encompassing all colors, white is the symbol of innocence, purity and cleanliness. Expressing nobility, stability and continuity, white gives people peace. It is also used as the color of mourning by some communities. Spaces dominated by white are perceived as roomy and capacious. White is considered as a balancing and complementing color.
Blue: The most commonly observed color on earth, blue conveys peace, freedom and eternity. It has a restful and comforting effect. Those who love this color are orderly, calm, reliable and loyal people. Blue has a comforting effect on the eyes. A darker blue may evoke distress while a lighter hue may be associated with loneliness.
Red: The hottest of colors, red expresses youth, dynamism and action. It makes people emotionally happy, determined and driven. It is considered as the symbol of determination and power. Red makes people enthusiastic, it causes them to be active.
Yellow: Yellow is a symbol of joy, light and productivity. It inspires people, makes them joyful and enthusiastic. It can express both liveliness and sorrow. As it has two different effects, it may confuse the mind. For this reason, it is not suitable for work rooms and rest areas.
Green: Green symbolizes nature and is a source of peace and comfort. It gives confidence and inner peace. It evokes a sense of youth and liveliness. It stimulates people to be harmonious and balanced.
Purple: Evoking feelings of nobility, wealth and luxury, purple enhances imagination. It is a color that increases concentration and enthuses. People who prefer this color care about spirituality, are magnanimous and dignified.
Navy blue: This color is influential in enhancing senses and facilitating decisions. It is considered as the color of thought. It is not a flamboyant color. It is a symbol of authority and eternity. Navy blue is a color that makes people feel charismatic.

]]>Spring is the reason for the happiness that starts with the change in nature and that spreads throughout our bodies and characters.
It is in fact the nicest mood modifier bestowed to us by the nature. It increases our happiness, energy and self-awareness.
Getting rid of thick cloths and wearing thinner clothing make us feel more comfortable and freer.
The transition from darker colored clothing to lighter colored ones is yet another source of happiness for all of us.
How can the extension of days at first followed by the increase in temperatures, the piping of birds and the flowering of the trees have such positive effects on humans?

]]>However, this change is not entirely pain-free in humans as in the rest of nature. The growing of a seed, the slow blossoming of trees. In short, it takes time for living beings to get ready for summer. Just like nature and other creatures, humans must also be prepared for summer.
During this preparation phase;
Incorrect diets done while entering summer with the purpose of losing weight in a short period of time and looking thinner may cause various health problems. The most important of these problems are cardiac conditions and some of these effects are;
Fasting for a long time cause fluctuations in blood pressure and glucose levels.
Weight that is re-gained rapidly after discontinuing crash diets increases the risk of diabetes.
Sudden weight losses and gains increase the risk of heart attack.
Protein diets may disrupt the cholesterol balance.
Sudden increases in exercise increase the risk of heart attack.
In order to lose weight healthily;
Complement your healthy feeding program with exercise, avoid eating too much fat and sugar, adopt a feeding regime based on water, fruits, vegetables and whole grains with a higher vitamin and mineral content during hot weather, decrease the consumption of caffeinated and alcoholic drinks.
Always remember to increase your water consumption. On sunny days when the elderly and the children are especially at risk, lots of fruits, vegetables, cheese and yogurt must be consumed as sodium, potassium and magnesium ensure the fluid-electrolyte balance in the body.
The incidence of diarrhea increases during summer and ample water consumption is of vital importance in case of diarrhea. Unfortunately, there are many babies and toddlers dying of dehydration in Turkey. For this reason, parents should be especially vigilant. Thus, they should not be outside during the hottest hours.
Lastly, remember to apply a moisturizer or sun lotion with sun protection factor on your face and body to protect your skin from the harmful effects of the sun.
Much as we are overjoyed by the coming of summer, we should be more careful and take care of our health and skin. I wish everyone a joyous summer.
I always write articles with referenced based on scientific facts. Today, I will be writing a column with an abundance of scientific basis and very powerful references. I will tell you about how we have created a Healthcare Brand. This is a very important story. Why? Because countries are only as powerful as their brands. This is the title of Mr. Nur Demirok’s column in the Para Magazine issued on the week of 29 May-4 June 2016. There are some very important statements in this article. Mr. Demirok said “Countries are not tangible but represent a visible population”. In yet another section of the article, he stated “If a country is capable of creating brands that are solid enough to activate the sensoria of societies, then the brands create the country”. We now have brands that represent us abroad, that do us credit. We are proud of them. Our greatest wish is to have more of them. However, when it comes to healthcare we do not have an internationally recognized healthy living brand. Based on this statement, we as Helvacızade are growing our Zade Vital brand as a global healthy living brand. Brands are really like children. They need pains and effort to grow. You must take constant care of them, monitor their growth and plan for their future. While doing all these, you must also treat them very delicately and fiercely preserve the brand image.
A brand’s journey is a long process. First and foremost, you should build up trust and loyalty in the people of your own country. If your brand consists of a product, you should develop strategies for numerous aspects ranging from its quality to its presentation and make the brand grow by utilizing the correct tactics. Innovation is the keyword for any brand. If your brand is an innovative product it may potentially grow fast. But growing fast is also a painful process. Each growth takes its own time. Just like issues experienced when a baby is born without reaching full term, you may face the same issues with your brand. The team creating the brand and making it grow must be very experienced. They must be capable of going forward throughout the process without wearing down.
If your business involves healthcare, then your guidelines must be stricter by several times. You must progress on a scientific basis and by always remembering the principle of “Primum non nocere (First, do no harm)” You must never forget that the brand you have created enhances the quality of life and extends the life of people. You must ensure the highest level of productivity at each point from your raw materials to your production site, your employees and managers without compromising quality. While doing all this, you must rely on common sense. Your power should be promoted not only by your infrastructure and your knowledge, but also by the power of scientific organizations. You should not sacrifice the values you have established while setting out on your journey.
I am sure that you will also be proud to see that a healthy living product that you pick up in a pharmacy or healthcare market abroad is of Turkish origin. It is to experience this pride that we keep working 7 days and 24 hours in Konya, Istanbul and Izmir. Our greatest proponent is people like you who give importance to their health and who rely on a local brand to enhance their quality of life and to live a longer and healthier life. Let’s not forget, “Countries are only as powerful as their brands”.
]]>Globally, 57% of all deaths in a year are caused by chronic conditions and the World Health Organization (WHO) anticipates that about 65% of all deaths will be the result of chronic conditions by 2030. (More than 47 million deaths annually). Deaths due to chronic conditions are expected to rise by about 23% in the next 20 to 25 years. On the other hand, deaths due to other reasons are believed to remain roughly the same by 2030.
For all these reasons, the prevention of chronic conditions and sustaining health are very important. Lifestyle arrangement is the first step in preventing medical conditions. This involves smoking cessation, regular exercise and a balanced diet. On the other hand, establishing genetic loads and taking preventive measures against these loads are also important in terms of both improving the quality of life and extending life. For instance, persons who have diabetes or heart attack running in their families should watch out for these issues.
At this point, we come across the highly popular concept of “wellness” that actually means a feeling of general well-being. This means that well-being is not only restricted to physical wellness. Well-being has seven dimensions. In turn, these seven dimensions have different meanings. For total well-being, these seven dimensions must be achieved.
Taking good care of ourselves is of great consequence for a long and high-quality life. Let’s not forget this.
The intestinal microbiota secretes some substances that send messages to the brain. Thus, the brain acts according to the messages it receives from the intestines. The brain tells the intestines how to regulate movements, how to protect themselves and what to and not to pass in. In all these processes, bacteria in the intestines play an important role.
Some substances secreted by our brain in stressful situations affect the bacteria in our stomach and intestines, thus causing nausea, diarrhoea and pain. A healthy intestinal microbiota can be effective in weight control by positively affecting the satiety mechanisms in the brain. It has been revealed that a diet rich in fibres (prebiotics) affects the levels of some hormones in the blood and creates a message of satiety in the brain. Again, some probiotic supplements have been observed to have antidepressant or relaxing effects, and therefore they have been even called psychobiotics.
Nowadays, how intestinal microbiota affects the brain functions and perception is studied. In fact, it has been suggested that some part of such effect of St. John's Wort, which is used in mild depression, is due to the fact that it destroys some harmful bacteria in the digestive system and regulates microbiota. A finding supporting these conditions is that anxiety and depression are more frequently observed in people with chronic digestive system problems.
In summary, our intestines do not only digest but also affect many functions from our immune system to our brain. In this case, it is of great importance that we take good care of our intestines. People need to have a bowel-friendly diet and, if necessary, take supplements for the regulation of microbiota.
Here are some important points to reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia.
A study of Harvard University conducted on 13 thousand women aged 70 and older, has found that the deterioration in mental activities is slower in those eating vegetables, especially green leafy, such as spinach compared to those eating a small amount of vegetables.
In many studies, people who have been mentally, physically and socially active and had different activities and hobbies throughout their life have been observed to have lower rates of dementia. Activities and hobbies include learning a foreign language, doing mental exercises, writing something enjoyable, reading books, playing musical instruments. In a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine, mind-stimulating activities such as reading books, card and board games, and solving puzzles have been shown to minimize or prevent age-related memory loss.
In a study published at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg University, less sleep or poor sleep has been observed to lead to beta-amyloid accumulation in the brain considered to be one of the causes of Alzheimer's disease, thus increasing the formation of plaques.
In a study at the University of Michigan, it has been stated that walking in nature improves short-term memory by 20 percent. Another study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association has found that regular exercises done by 170 people over the age of 50 only for six months lead to improvements in mental and memory functions of these older adults.
Many studies have shown that spending time with beloved people keeps the mind active and reduces stress levels.
Stopping smoking, keeping blood pressure and cholesterol levels under control, watching the weight, limiting alcohol consumption, and taking supplements such as folic acid and fish oil to enhance the brain activity will help protect against Alzheimer’s.
It ensures relaxation of the whole body, relieves tension, and reduces stress by relaxing muscles up to 45 minutes later. It strengthens the immune system, decreases stress hormones, and improves resistance to diseases by increasing immune system cells and infection-fighting antibodies. It increases the body chemical, endorphin, which makes a person feel good.
Endorphin supports the feeling of being healthy and reduces short-term pain. A study has demonstrated that people who laugh for 15 minutes tolerate pain better by 10%. Laughing protects the heart. It provides a protective effect against heart attack and cardiovascular diseases by enhancing the function of blood vessels and blood flow. Laughing 100 times is equivalent to 10 minutes of intensive exercise and 15 minutes of cycling. Laughing prolongs life. In a study in the 65 to 85-year-old study group, 55% less deaths have been observed in people who are able to look positively and like laughing as compared to pessimistic people.
It increases the joy of life. It reduces fear and anxiety. It heals the state of mind. It strengthens memory and enhances learning.
It strengthens relationships. It calms conflicts. It ensures socialization. Laughter is the best medicine for both physical and mental health. And it is costless. Start the day with a laugh and smiling at those around us will make both us and them feel good. Then what are we waiting for? Let's smile.
Over 80 percent of us suffer from at least a low level of a magnesium deficiency, and it can result in leg cramps, insomnia and yes, diabetes. Magnesium is essential for cellular health and is a critical component of over 300 biochemical functions in the body. Magnesium has been shown to also help blood sugar levels. A magnesium supplement can also help lower the risk of type 2 diabetes because magnesium plays a role in glucose metabolism. In a Journal of Internal Medicine study, an increase of 100 milligrams a day of magnesium was found to decrease the risk of diabetes by 15 percent in a meta-analysis of the data.
Fish oil benefits include reducing inflammation and fighting diabetes. While people with diabetes often have high triglyceride and low HDL levels, omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil can help lower triglycerides and apoproteins (markers of diabetes), and raise HDL.
If you have diabetes, keep stress levels low. If you get stressed out, it is absolutely going to affect your hormones and your cortisol, which then in turn will affect your insulin levels.
Eat Healthier Fats; Healthy fats help balance out the LDL cholesterol by lowering it and increasing HDL cholesterol thus promoting a healthier heart.
HDL’s unpredictable actions are one of the reasons why lowering LDL cholesterol often gets more focus as primary defense against heart disease and stroke. However, the medical world, both conventional and holistic, still agrees that raising low HDL is a very smart health move because low HDL cholesterol can be more dangerous than high LDL cholesterol.
There are no obvious signs or symptoms of high LDL cholesterol and low HDL cholesterol so it’s very important to maintain a healthy lifestyle and get your cholesterol checked regularly! is that the higher your HDL level, the lower your body’s LDL level or “bad” cholesterol.
is that the higher your HDL level, the lower your body’s LDL level or “bad” cholesterol.
Together with spring months, a large number of allergens begins to exist in the environment. Especially flower dust (pollens) cause distress in people at risk because they strongly trigger allergies. The most important way to prevent allergy is to avoid it. However, it is very difficult to avoid pollen. Therefore, support can be taken as protection before spring arrives. Black Seed Oil is a good supplement to prevent allergies. It is also useful to keep the windows closed in order to prevent the pollens from entering the house.
Spring months are the times when the hormones change due to the transition of seasons. One of the health problems that we face in spring is the fatigue that comes from the exit from the winter and adaptation to the new season. It is important to pay attention to the sleep pattern to deal with this problem. On the other hand, energizing supplements can also be used. At this point, the Wheat germ Oil would be a good alternative.
During the winter months, the weight caused by the meals that are eaten countlessly starts to be a problem as spring months come. For those who want to lose weight, it is important to review the diet and increase the movement. For people who are not used to exercising, the best move is brisk walking. Supporters can also be used to facilitate weight loss. Thanks to conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) in its content, Safflower Seed oil can be used for this purpose.
Spring months are all very enjoyable times for us with the sun, which begins to shine slightly, the spring air where we feel the warmth, and the waking nature. If we spend these months paying attention to our health, the pleasure will increase even more. I wish you a healthy and enjoyable spring.

The brain tells the intestines how to regulate movements, how to protect itself, and what to absorb in. The bacteria in the intestines play an important role in all these processes.
In stressful situations, a number of substances released from our brain affect the bacteria in our stomach and intestines, causing nausea, diarrhea and pain. Nowadays, it is studied how intestinal microbial affects brain functions and perception. In fact, some of the effects of the common St. John’s wort herb used in mild depression were suggested to be due to the removal of some harmful bacteria in the digestive tract and fixing the microbiota. Another symptom supporting this situation is that anxiety and depression are observed in people with chronic digestive problems is more frequent.
In a nutshell, our intestines affect many functions from our immune system to our brains beyond digestion. It's important that we take good care of our gut. A gut friendly diet and, if necessary, supports need to be taken for the regulation of microbiota. The other thing your body needs to do after a workout is to replenish energy stores. Athletes should take CoQ10 support in the morning after breakfast. Other good sources of energy for fish, beef and egg cassettes are CoQ10 sources. To repair muscle damage, your body needs protein, which is made up of amino acids, the building blocks for your muscles. An adequate supply of protein will help your muscles recover from all the stress placed on them, especially after doing weight-bearing exercise, such as weight-training and jogging.
Eating the right nutrients soon after you exercise can help your body get this done faster. It is particularly important to eat carbs and protein after your workout.
Essential fatty acids (found in fish and certain types of oils) play a critical role in muscle recovery by helping to regulate oxygen, hormone restoration, cardiovascular health, and immune system integrity.
it’s important to realize that no dietary supplement can fully treat, cure, or prevent cancer. However, there are some supplements that can potentially help prevent cancer or assist in your cancer recovery. If you’re thinking about supplementing your diet with anti-cancer vitamins, always talk to your doctor first.
Most people use fish oil supplements to enhance the amount of omega-3’s in their diet. However, fish oil was shown in one study on mice to possibly reduce the effectiveness of chemotherapy, and for that reason ground flax seed is a worthy alternative.
Ginger is suggested to play a beneficial role against cancer because of its anti-inflammatory and anti-nausea properties.
The Indian spice turmeric can be extremely helpful when it comes to fighting cancer. Studies show that the curcumin in turmeric may kill cancer cells and slow tumor growth.
Left untreated, seasonal allergy symptoms cause miserable symptoms, affect day-to-day activities and can spur asthma attacks. Approximately 80 percent of people with asthma suffer from seasonal allergies. Treating hay fever symptoms can reduce asthma–related hospitalizations and emergencies.
Allergy symptoms make you feel simply awful. Congestion, post-nasal drip, itchy eyes and sneezing wear your body down. While the severity of symptoms of allergic rhinitis vary widely from season to season, chances are if you have seasonal allergies, the symptoms impact your day-to-day life.
Black cumin seed oil is a natural food supplement recommended for allergic symptoms. For example, one robust experimental study found that supplementing with black seed oil for 30 days was able to lower all the subjective indications of allergies. This includes outcomes like sneezing, congestion, nasal itching and a runny nose. In contrast, those effects weren’t seen with the placebo.
There are more natural skin care products available now than ever, and their long list of benefits beyond even great looking skin might come come as a surprise to you. When you use natural products like this regularly, not only are you beautifying your skin, but you’re also absorbing antioxidants, enhancing your skin’s UV resistance, and stimulating your immune system, too.
Coconut oil’s skin benefits include: strengthening underlying epidermal tissue, removing dead skin cells. Research even shows that coconut oil is strong enough to fight chronic skin diseases characterized by defects in the epidermal barrier function and cutaneous inflammation, including atopic dermatitis (AD). Use coconut oil on both your skin and hair to help cleanse, moisturize, remove makeup, heal wounds or scars quicker, and prevent razor burn. With its antimicrobial properties and moisturizing abilities, coconut oil for skin is perfect to clean your face. If your skin’s seriously dry, coconut oil for skin is one of the best remedies. Rub coconut oil in hands to warm it up and then use it in lieu of body lotion.
Another natural ingredient for skin health is the biotin. Biotin benefits include helping to give us a young, attractive appearance since it plays a major part in maintaining the health of our hair, nails and skin. In fact, biotin sometimes gets the nickname the “H” vitamin, which stems from the German words Haar and Haut, which mean “hair and skin.” Vitamin B7 is needed to maintain healthy skin, hair and nails, so when someone experiences a vitamin B7 deficiency, symptoms may manifest in the form of thinning, splitting and brittle hair, or dermatitis that results in dry, irritated skin. You may notice that biotin is included in many cosmetic face creams, hair masques and other over-the-counter beauty products for this reason, but it’s much more effective when it’s eaten, rather than applied topically.
Vitamin E is both a nutrient and antioxidant with a history of use in dermatology for over 50 years. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble compound mainly found in certain plant oils and also in the leaves of green vegetables. Wheat germ oil is one plant oil that is especially high in vitamin E.
Women all over the world have been using natural skin care products for centuries and have some of the most admirable skin to show for it!
